Survey Says: Let's Spend More on Developing Managers

Two things for organizations to focus on as they invest in developing managers and leaders.

Gartner survey results indicate organizations are planning to spend more on developing managers and leaders. They’re overwhelmed and ill-equipped to lead change.

This leads me to advise organizations have a dual focus:

  1. Review organizational structure, as well as policies/procedures, to ensure that they’re designed to equip continuous change and not just devised to meet the current business needs.

  2. If developing discrete capabilities, prioritize developing managerial coaching skills.
